Vijay Sethupathy 2020

Vijay Sethupathi, is a Tamil actor and producer, born on January 16, 1978, in Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu. Vijay worked as an accountant in Dubai, before deciding to become an actor. He acted in theatre and had supporting roles in television and films. Vijay’s first lead role was as a shepherd in ‘Thenmerku Paruvakaatru’ (Tamil, 2011), the winner of the Best Tamil Feature Film that year. Vijay’s breakthrough came in 2012. He won a Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Villain in ‘Sundarapandian’. In the surprise hit horror film ‘Pizza’, written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Vijay, the main character, played a pizza delivery boy. That same year, he starred as a victim of short-term memory loss in the comedy ‘Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom’, another very successful film. Since then, Vijay has established himself as a top Tamil actor, winning the affection of his fans with the nickname ‘Makkal Selvan’ (man of the people). He enjoys playing an amazing variety of roles and has an eye for the right directors and scripts. Some of his most successful movies are: ‘Soodhu Kavvum’ (2013), as an inept kidnapper; ‘Naanum Rowdydhaan’ (2015), a rowdy policewoman’s son; ’Sethupathi’ (2016) , a righteous policeman; ‘Vikram Vedha’ (2017), a smuggler and murderer; and ‘Puriyaadha Pudhir’ (2017), a music teacher. Vijay did an amazing seven movies in 2018. The most successful being super hit ‘96’, playing a loner who is reunited with his first love. In 2019, Vijay once again did seven movies. The most talked about was ‘Super Deluxe’, where he won critical praise for his portrayal of a transgendered woman. In 2020 he appeared in ‘Ka Pae Ranasingam’, which dealt with political corruption faced by the common man. Vijay was last seen as the villain in ‘Master’ (2020), an action/thriller which starred Thalapathy Vijay and was finally released in theaters in January 2021.
