Happy Birthday to Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan, Indian actress and politician, born on April 9, 1948, in Kolkata, West Bengal. Jaya made several movies with her husband, including ‘Zanjeer’ (1973), ‘Silsila’ (1981), and Sholay’ (1975). Jaya started her career in the Bengali film industry when she was just 15. Her first film as an adult was ‘Guddi’ (1971). Other award-winning films were: ‘Abhimaan’ (1973), ‘Kora Kagaz’ (1974), ‘Nauker’ (1979), ‘Fiza’ (2000), ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ (2001), ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ (2003). She retired from films to raise her children but can now be seen in them occasionally. Jaya was last seen in a cameo for ‘Ki & Ka’ (2016). Jaya has served four terms as a Rajya Sabha (the upper house) Member of Parliament of India. In 1992, Jaya was honored with a Padma Shri by the Indian government, and in 2007 with a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.

Ever since I was a little girl, I loved a good story. As an American, most of the movies I have watched were made in Hollywood. As I got older I lost interest in Hollywood movies and started watching Bollywood movies. Now I enjoy Tollywood, Kollywood, and Mollywood films as well.
