Happy Birthday to Ravi Kapoor, better known as Jeetendra, Indian film and television actor, producer and chairman of Balaji Motion Pictures and Balaji Telefilms, born on April 7, 1942, in Amritsar.  Jeetendra’s career started when he was cast in the 1959 movie ‘Navrang’ by director V. Shantaram. In 1964, the same director cast him as the hero in ‘Geet Gaya Pattharon Ne’. Jeetendra’s acting career has spanned four decades and over 200 films. He co-starred frequently with Sridevi, Jaya Prada, Reena Roy, Neetu Singh, Hema Malini, and Rekha. He was known for doing remakes of South Indian melodramas, for his frantic dancing style, and for wearing a tee shirt and white shoes, which became his trademark. Some of his best-known films are: ‘Farz’ (1967), ‘Himmatwala’ (1983), and ‘Tohfa’ (1984). He was the 2003 recipient of the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.  Jeetendra’s son is actor Tusshar Kapoor, and his daughter Ekta is a producer and the head of Balaji Telefilms.
