Vijay

Joseph Vijay is a Tamil star better known just as Vijay or Thalapathy (commander), born on June 22, 1974, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His father is S.A. Chandrasekhar, a Tamil director and his mother is a playback singer. Vijay was a child actor and appeared in films that his father directed. Before he was eighteen, Vijay had his adult debut in ‘Naalaiya Theerpu’ (1992).  In 1996, Vijay had a breakthrough film in ‘Poove Unakkaga’, and he became a well-known Tamil star. Other successful films are: ‘Love Today’(1997), ’Kadhalukku Mariyadhai’ (1997), won a Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor, ‘Thulladha Manamum Thullum’ (1999), ‘Kushi’ (2000), ‘Priyamaanavale’ (2000), ‘Friends’ (2001), ‘Badri’ (2001), ‘Thirumalai’ (2003), ‘Ghilli’ (2004), ‘Thirupaachi’ (2005), ‘Sivakasi’ (2005), ‘Pokkiri’ (2007), ‘Kaavalan’ (2011), ‘Velayudham’ (2011), ‘Thuppakki’ (2012), ‘Kaththi’ (2014), won Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer/Tamil, ‘Theri’ (2016), and ‘Mersal’ (2017), the highest-grossing film of his career. Vijay played three characters in ‘Mersal’ and became the third actor to have a film in the 250-crore club, after Rajinikanth and Prabhas (Tamil Baahubali) in Kollywood.  He starred in the highest-grossing film of 2018, a political action thriller called ‘Sarkar’. His next, ‘Bigil’, became the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2019, and the highest-grossing of Vijay’s career. The film centered around a women’s football team. His film ‘Master’ had a delayed release due to the covid 19 virus. It released in January 2021 in theaters. Co-starring Vijay Sethupathi as the villain, Vijay plays an alcoholic professor sent to teach in a reform school. Vijay launched a social service organization in 2009, and many of his fans provide services for the poor and sick.
