Silambarasan Thesingu Rajendar (Simbu or S.T.R.), an Indian director, playback singer and actor working in the Tamil industry, born on February 3, 1984, in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. Simbu’s father, T. Rajendar, was a director, and, as a child, Simbu starred in many of his father’s films. When he was 18, he made his debut as an adult in ‘Kadhal Azhivathillai’, an action romance directed by his father in 2002. In 2004, Simbu had a breakthrough film in ‘Manmadhan’. He played a dual role in the movie which became a blockbuster. Some of his films are ‘Thotti Jaya’ (2005), ‘Vallavan’ (2006), ‘Silambattam’ (2008), ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa’ (2010), ‘Vaalu’ (2015), ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’ (2018), and ‘Maanaadu’ (2021). Simbu was the television host for Bigg Boss Ultimate in 2022. He was last seen as a crime boss in the successful neo-noir action thrilled ‘Pathu Thala’, (2023). Simbu will be seen in the Mani Ratnam/Kamal Haasan gangster thriller ‘Thug Life’, releasing June 2025. Due to his outspoken nature, he has been involved in several controversies with fellow actors, directors, and producers in his career.
