Sudeep Sanjeev is known simply as Sudeep, an Indian actor, director, producer, screenwriter, and playback singer working primarily in Kannada films, born on September 2, 1973, in Shimoga, Mysore State (Karnataka), India. Sudeep started his career in a 1997 Kannada film called ‘Thayavva’. His break-through film was ‘Huchcha’ (2001), a romantic action film for which he won a Filmfare South – Best Actor Award. Sudeep has starred in several Hindi films by Ram Gopal Varma: ‘Phoonk’ (2008), ‘Rann’ (2010), and ‘Rakta Charitra’ (2010). In 2012, he appeared as an evil and obsessed industrialist in S. S. Rajamouli’s fantasy thriller ‘Eega’ (Telugu/Tamil). This awesomely creative movie won two National Film Awards – one for Best Feature Film in Telugu and one for Best Special Effects, and Sudeep won a Filmfare South – Best Telugu Supporting Actor Award. Sudeep was a Persian arms trader in Baahubali 1 (2015). Other well-known movies are: ‘Nandhi’ (2002), ‘Swaathi Mutthu’ (2003), ‘Veera Madakari’ (2009), ‘Vishnuvardhana’ (2011), ‘Bachchan’ (2013), ‘Kotigobba 2’ (2016), and ‘Hebbuli’ (2017). In 2019, he was seen as Salman Khan’s enemy in ‘Dabangg 3’ (Hindi), and in ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ (Telugu). His most recent successful movies were ‘Kotigobba 3’ (2021), which he also co-wrote and played a double role, and ‘Vikrant Rona’ (2022), as a police inspector. Sudeep last starred in ‘Max’, an action thriller which was the highest-grossing Kannada film in 2024. Sudeep has directed many Kannada movies. His debut film ‘My Autograph’ (2006) was a success. He owns his own film production company called Kiccha Creations. Sudeep is known as a brand ambassador and a television host. He is very active in humanitarian work through Kiccha Sudeepa Charitable Society. He married Priya in 2001, and the couple has one child.
