Vidyut Dev Singh Jammwal, Indian actor, martial artist, and film producer, was born on December 10, 1980, in Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir, India. Vidyut practices a martial art that originated in Kerala called Kalari. He started training at three in an ashram run by his mother. He has traveled the world performing his martial arts skills in live-action shows. Vidyut entered Bollywood with a negative role in ‘Force’, which starred John Abraham, winning a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He also did negative roles in ‘Shakti’ and ‘Oosaravelli’, both Telugu films starring NTR. In 2012, he made his Tamil debut in ‘Billa II’, opposite Ajith Kumar, and the blockbuster ‘Thuppakki’, opposite Vijay. He was honored with a SIIMA Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role for the film. In 2023, Vidyut had a turning point in his career when he played the lead in the Commando film series. He did all his stunts in the action thriller series which consisted of: ‘Commando: A One Man Army’, Commando: The Black Money Trail’ (2017), and Commando 3” (2019). Other Vidyut movies are ‘Anjaan’ (2014/Tamil) with Suriya,’Baadshaho’ (2017/Hindi) with Ajay Devgn, ‘Junglee’ (2019/Hindi), ‘Yaara’ and ‘Khuda Haafiz’ (2020/Hindi) his biggest opener, ‘The Power’ and ‘Sanak’ (2021/Hindi), and ‘Khuda Haafiz: Chapter 2 – Agni Pariksha’ (2022). He was last seen in ‘IB71’ (2023) based on the hijacking of an Indian Airlines plane in 1971. Vidyut also produced the movie seen on Disney+ Hotstar.
