A.R. Muguradoss, an Indian director, screenwriter, and producer who works mostly in the Tamil film industry, was born on September 25, 1974, in Kallakkurichi, Tamil Nadu. Muguradoss started his career as a dialogue writer and assistant director.  He made his debut as the director of Ajith Kumar’s first action film ‘Dheena’ (2001). His second film, ‘Ramana’ (2002), was a vigilante action film blockbuster, that he wrote and directed.  His next, ‘Ghajini’ (Tamil/2005), is a psychological thriller involving amnesia. The third highest-grossing Tamil film of 2005 starring Surya and Asin won several Filmfare Awards and the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Film. Muguradoss later directed the Hindi remake with Aamir Khan and Asin. The Hindi version became the first Bollywood movie to gross 100 crores. In 2006, Muguradoss wrote and directed ‘Stalin’ (Telugu) with Chiranjeevi and Trisha. This movie was remade as ‘Jai Ho’ starring Salman Khan. In 2012, he started a highly successful partnership with Vijay who starred in three of his movies. They are ‘Thuppakki’, remade with Akshay Kumar as ‘Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty’ (Hindi/2014), ‘Kaththi’ (2014), and ‘Sarkar’ (2018).  In 2017, Muguradoos wrote and directed Mahesh Babu in ‘Spyder’ (Telugu/Tamil). The last movie he wrote and directed was ‘Darbar’ (2020) starring Rajnikanth.
