Happy Birthday to Arijit Singh, prolific playback singer, music composer and producer, born on April 25, 1987, in Jiaganj, West Bengal, India. He first learned music at home, then was trained professionally in Indian classical music and in tabla. His mentor, Rajendra Prasad Harjari, encouraged him to compete in the reality show Fame Gurukul when Arijit was eighteen. He didn’t win but decided to enter another show, 10 Ke 10 Le, which he won. Arijit used the prize money to set up his own recording studio becoming a music programmer and producer for people like Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Pritam, and Vishal-Shekhar. Arijit made his playback debut in the film ‘Murder 2’ (2011), with the song ‘Phir Mobhabbat’. In 2012, Arijit received the first of many awards for his songs winning the Mirchi Music Award for Upcoming Male Playback Singer for “Duaa” from the film ‘Shanghai’. Some of his famous songs are: “Tum Hi Ho” from ‘Aashiqui 2’ (2014), “Samjhawan” from ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ (2014), ‘Gerua’ from ‘Dilwale’ (2015), “Sooraj Dooba Hain” from ‘Roy’ (2016), “Bolna” from ‘Kapoor & Sons’ (2016), , “Aa Dil Hai Mushkil” from ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (2017).
