Happy Birthday to Salim Khan, prolific Indian screenwriter, born on November 24, 1935, in Indore, India. Salim started his career acting small parts, but he was not not very successful until he became friends with Javed Akhthar.  Together they formed a script-writing team thought by many to be the most successful scriptwriters of all time in Bollywood. Among their scripts were: ‘Andaz’ (1971), ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’ (1972), ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’ (1973), ‘Zanjeer’ (1973) won Filmfare Best Screenplay and Best Story, ‘Deewaar’ (1975) won Filmfare Best Dialogue, Best Screenplay and Best Story, ‘Sholay’ (1975) named the best of Top 10 Indian Films by the British Film Institute, ‘Shakti’ (1982) won Filmfare Best Screenplay, ‘Zamana’ (1985), and ‘Mr. India’ (1987). The team split in 1982 due to ego issues. After that, Salim wrote several other scripts including ‘Patthar De Phool’ starring Salman. Salim retired in 1996. Salim has two wives: Salma Khan and iconic Hindi actress  Helen. His children by Salma are superstar Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and Alvira Agnihotri. With Helen, Salim has an adopted daughter, Arpita Khan.
