Happy Birthday to Ashutosh Gowariker, Indian director, writer, actor, and producer, born on February 15, 1964, in Kolhapur. Ashutosh started his career acting in the 1984 movie ‘Holi’. in 1993, he directed ‘Pehla Hasha’ and in 1995, ‘Baazi’ with Aamir Khan. In 2001, Ashutosh made history when he wrote and directed Aamir Khan again in the period movie, ‘Lagaan’. This film won the Filmfare Award for Best Film and Best Director and was the biggest hit of the year. In 2004, he wrote and directed ‘Swades’, which starred Shah Rukh Khan who won Filmfare Award for Best Actor. Personally, it is my favorite Shah Rukh performance. In 2008, Ashutosh directed ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. It won Filmfare Best Director and Best Movie Award. His next two films, ‘What’s Your Raashee?’ (2009) and ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ (2010) were not as successful. In 2016, Ashutosh produced and directed the epic romance ‘Mohenjo Daro’, starring Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde. The movie was a flop. The same year, Ashutosh acted in ‘Ventilator’, an award-winning Marathi film, produced by Priyanka Chopra. His last film was ‘Panipat’ (2019), a period movie which received mixed reviews. Ashutosh is married and has two sons.
