Farida Jalal, Indian actress, born on March 14, 1949, in New Delhi, India. Farida, who began her career in the sixties, has appeared in over 200 movies. She made her debut in ‘Taqdeer’ in 1967. Best known for her roles as sister, girlfriend, and later, aunt and mother, her most successful decade was the nineties when she appeared in many big hits. Farida has been nominated for Filmfare Best Supporting Awards for: ‘Aradhana’ (1969), ‘Majboor’ (1974), ‘Shaque’ (1976), and ‘Jurmana’ (1979). She has won Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Awards for: ‘Paras’ (1971), ‘Henna’ (1991), ‘Mammo’ (1994), and her most iconic role as Kajol’s mother in ‘DDLJ (1996). She was last seen as Saif Ali Khan’s mother in ‘Jawaani Jaaneman’ (2020). Farida was seen on Indian television in ‘Satrangi Sasural’ (2024 to 2016), a soap opera. In 2024, she appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi’, a period drama for Netflix. and on the web series ‘Parchhayee’. Farida was widowed in 2003. She and her husband had a son Yaseen.
