Nanda, born on January 8, 1939, was a Bollywood actress who career spanned from 1957 to 1995 when she fully retired. Known as “Baby Nanda” when she started, Nanda played many character roles before gaining recognition as a heroine in 1961’s ‘Hum Dono’. She acted alongside many famous heroes, including: Shashi Kapoor, Dev Anand, Jeetendra and Rajesh Khanna. Some of her well-known films were: ‘Ittefaq’ (1969), ‘Gumnaam (1965), ‘Kanoon’ (1960), ‘Jab Jab Phool Khile’ (1965), ‘Chhoti Bahen’ (1959), ‘The Train’ (1970), and ‘Prem Rog’ (1982). Although she never married, Nanda was once engaged to Manmoham Desai, who died before the wedding could take place. Nanda died on March 25, 2014 at her bungalow by the sea in Mumbai.
