Adil Hussain is an Indian actor born on October 5, 1963, in Goalpara, Assam. Adil was the youngest of seven children in an Assamese Muslim family. His father was a teacher, and Adil acted in school and college plays.  He worked as a stand-up comedian before he moved to Delhi and studied at the National School of Drama and the Drama Studio London. He was the lead in ‘Jasoos Vijay’ (2002-2003), on television. Adil made his film debut in a Bengali period drama ‘Iti Srikanta’ (2004). He had acted in a few Assamese films, and appeared in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Kaminey’, and Abhishek Chaubey’s ‘Ishqiya’. His first major role was in ‘Agent Vinod’ (2012). In 2012, Adil played Sridevi’s husband in ‘English Vinglish’, ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’, and Ang Lee’s ‘Life of Pi’. Other films of note are ‘Raag: The Rhythm of Love’ (2014/Assamese), ‘Zed Plus’ (2014), first lead role, ‘Main Aur Charles’ (2015), ‘Parched’ (2015), ‘Love Sonia’ (2017) ‘Maj Rati Keteki’ (2017/Assamese),’ Hotel Salvation’ (2017), ‘Bioscopewala’ (2018), ‘Delhi Crime’ (2019), ‘Pareeksha’ (2019/Zee5) and ‘Bell Bottom’ (2021).
