Anushka (Sweety) Shetty is an Indian actress and model, born on November 7, 1981, in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. Anushka can be seen primarily in Telugu and Tamil films. She was a yoga instructor under a well-known yoga master, Bharat Thakur, before she started acting. Anushka made her debut in 2005 in two Telugu films, ‘Super’ and ’Maha Nandi’. Her break came in 2006 when she co-starred with Ravi Teja in S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘Vikramarkudu’. The film was a hit and Anushka became very popular in the Telugu industry. In 2009, she did a heroine-centric film ‘Arundhati’ and won critical and commercial praise. She received a Filmfare Best Actress Award – South and a Nandi Special Jury Award. Other successful films are: ‘Vedam’ (2010), winning the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – South, the Tamil film ‘Singam’ (2010), ‘Vaanam’ (Tamil, 2011), ‘Deiva Thirumagal’ (Tamil, 2011), ‘Mirchi’ (2013), ‘Irandam Ulagam’ (2013), ’Lingaa’ (2014), ‘Rudhramadevi’ (2015) – winning the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu, and ‘Size Zero’ (2015). Anushka is best known for her role as Devasena in S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ (2015) and ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ (2017). Anushka’s Devasena has become an iconic character loved by many for her grace, strength, and independence. Anushka’s next film was a well-received supernatural thriller ‘Bhaagamathie’ (2018/Telugu and Tamil), where she alternated between a gentlewoman and a vengeful ghost. She was last seen in ‘Nishabdham’ (2020/Telugu and Tamil which is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
