Nag Ashwin Reddy is an Indian director and screenwriter, working in the Telugu film industry, born on April 23, 1986. Both his parents and his younger sister are doctors. Nag has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication and did coursework in Film Direction at the New York Film Academy. He began his career as an assistant director for the film ‘Nenu Meeku Telusa?’ (2008) ‘Leader’  (2010), and ‘Life is Beautiful’ (2012). Ashwin made his directorial debut with ‘Yevade Subramanyam’ in 2015. The film, which he also wrote, was a coming-of-age drama starring Nani, shot on location at the Everest Base Camp in Nepal. He won a 2015 Nandi Award (Telugu) for Best Debut Director. His second film was a biopic of the tragic life of Savitri, a popular actress in the 50s and 60s, called ‘Mahanati’ (2018). ‘Mahanati’ won Nag a Best Director at the 66th Filmfare Awards South and Best Feature Film – Telugu at the 66th National Film Awards.  Nag was one of the director/screenwriters of a Netflix anthology ‘Pitta Kathalu’ made in 2021. His next is a big-budget Telugu film starring Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and Amitabh Bachchan, in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, science-fiction about a modern-day avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu.
