Happy Birthday to Prasoon Josti, advertising guru, screenwriter, and award-winning lyricist, born on September 16, 1971, in Uttarakhand, India. Prasoon published his first book ‘Main Aur Woh’ when he was 17. After college, he started his career in Ogilvy & Mather, one of the world’s leading ad agencies. During the last decade, Prasoon rose to the position of executive chairman for the McCann Worldgroup India and regional creative director for Asia Pacific. He has many successful advertising campaigns to his credit. Multi-talented, Prasoon made his debut as a lyricist in the film ‘Lajja’ (2001), and worked on several very successful movies, thereafter, winning the Filmfare Best Lyricist Award for ‘Chand Sifarish’ in ‘Fanaa’ (2007), ‘Maa’ in ‘Taare Zameen Par’ (2008), and ‘Zinda’ in ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. Prasoon is also a dialogue writer for such films as: ‘Rang De Basanti’ (2006) and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ (2013). In 2015, Prasoon was the recipient of the Padma Shri Award for his contribution to the arts from the government of India. On August 11, 2017, he was appointed Chairperson of the controversial Central Board of Film Certification. He has written the songs for Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’, which released in 2019. He is currently working on a series of short films around the subject of malnutrition with Aamir Khan.
