Shatrughan Sinha (Shotgun), flamboyant Indian actor and politician, was born on December 9, 1945, in Patna, Bihar, India. He is married to Poonam Sinha, an actress and a former Miss India. Sonakshi Sinha, a popular young actress, is his daughter. Shatrughan started his career in Dev Anand’s ‘Prem Pujari’ (1970), although ‘Sajan’ (1969) was released first. Starting with small roles, he became more well-known with the hit ‘Khilona’ and Gulzar’s ‘Mere Apne’ (1971). Some of his best films are: ‘Rampur ka Laxman Bhai Ho To Aisa’ (1972), ‘Heera’ (1973), ‘Dost’ (1974), ‘Kalicharan’ (1976), ‘Vishwanath’ (1976), ‘Kaala Patthar’ (1979), ‘Dostana’ (1980), and ‘Khudgarz’ (1987). His most favorite dialogue was “Khamoush” (shut up!). Shatrughan entered politics in 2009 as a candidate for the Bharatiya Janata Party and became the first Bollywood star to become a Union Minister. He is now a member of the All India Trinamool Congress, he defeated a member of his former BJP with a large number of votes. Shatrughan was presented with a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.
