Konkona Sen Sharma, an Indian actress and director, was born on December 3, 1979. The daughter of Bengali filmmaker, scriptwriter, and actress Aparna Sen. Konkona has made a name for herself in contemporary arthouse films, as well as commercial films like “Wake Up Sid” with Ranbir Kapoor and “Luck by Chance”. She debuted as a child in 1983 in “Indira”, a Bengali film, and won a National Film Award for Best Actress in the film “Mr. and Mrs. Iyer” (2001/English). In 2005, Konkona appeared in ‘Page 3’, a National Film Award-winning social film. Konkona won two Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Awards for ‘Omkara’ (2006) and ‘Life in a …Metro’ (2007). Some of her other well-known films are: ‘Traffic Signal’, ‘Laaga Chunari Mein Daag’, ‘Aaja Nachle’ (2007), ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ (2013), ‘Talvar’ (2015), and ‘Akira’ (2016). Konkona has also written and directed a short Bengali film in 2006, ‘Naamkoron’. In 2018, Konkona wrote and directed ‘A Death in the Gunj’ (2017), winning several Best Director awards including the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Director. She also won a Screen Award for Best Actress (Critics) for her role in ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ (2017), playing an unappreciated Muslim wife with a head for business. Konkona appeared in ‘Dolly Kitty Aur Who Chamakte Sitare’, and had a cameo in ‘Cargo’, a sci-fi film in 2020. In 2021, she was seen in the Amazon Prime web series ‘Mumbai Diaries -26/11’, in ‘Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi’ and ‘Ajeeb Daastaans’, for which she won the Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actress in a Web Original Film. In 2023, Konkona was part of the ensemble cast in ‘Kuttey’, an action thriller about greed. Konkona is divorced from actor Ranvir Shorey. They have a son together.
