Boman Irani, a Bollywood and theater actor, was born on December 2, 1959, in Mumbai. Although Boman had extensive training in theater, he did not work in films until the year 2000. He had worked various jobs before entering show business: waiter and room service staff at the Taj Mahal Hotel, running his family’s bakery, and photography. Boman stood out in films such as: ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’ (2003), ‘3 Idiots’ (2009), winning the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award and the Star Screen Award for Best Villain, ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ (2006), and ‘Don 2’ (2011). Boman is well known for his comedic and villain roles and the many memorable characters he has created: Dr. ‘Virus’ Sahastrabuddhe, the representative of all that is wrong with the Indian educational system in ‘3 Idiots’, the nearly insane Dr. Asthana in ‘Munna Bhai’; Vardhaan, a master criminal pretending to be a good cop; as a Parse momma’s boy Tammy in ‘Happy New Year’; a protective father in ‘Housefull 3’. Boman continues his prolific career making six films in 2018 and six in 2019. In 2021, Boman appeared as Farokh Engineer, a former Indian cricket player in ‘83’; in 2022, he did ‘Runway 34’, ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’, and ‘Uunchal’. In 2023, Boman will be seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’, starring Shah Rukh Khan.
