Shreya Goshal, popular Indian singer, born on March 12, 1984, in Berhampore, Murshidabad, West Bengal, India. Shreya’s father is an electrical engineer for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India She became interested in music at the age of four, and at six she began formal training in classical music. When Shreya was sixteen, she participated in the music reality show for Zee TV, Sa Re Ga Ma, and won. She caught the attention of Sanjay Leela Bhansali who gave her a chance to sing in his next movie ‘Devadas’ in 2000. Shreya sang five songs as the voice of Paro (Aishwarya Rai). Her first song was ‘Bairi Piya’, with Udit Narayan, winning a National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer. She also won her first Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer for ‘Dola Re’, which she shared with Kavita Krishnamurthy. Shreya has won four more National Film Awards for Best Female Playback Singer: ‘Dheere Jalna’ from ‘Paheli’ (2005), ‘Yeh Ishq Haaye’ from ‘Jab We Met’ (2007), ‘Pherari Mon’ from ‘Antaheen’ (2008/Bengali), ‘Jeev Rangla’ from ‘Jogwa’ (2008/Marathi), and ‘Mayava Chayava’ from ‘Iravin Nizhal’ (2021/Tamil). In the last two-and-a-half decades, Shreya has shown her versatility and wide range singing ghazals, devotional songs, romantic ballads or dance floor pop. She has won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer in five languages; six Filmfare Hindi and ten Filmfare South. Shreya has more than 3000 songs in twenty languages and 1150 plus in Hindi alone. She makes special appearances and has judged many reality shows, also well as performing on international tours. Shreya has been married since 2025 and has a son.
