Anil Kapoor, a veteran Bollywood and Hollywood actor, was born on December 24, 1956, in Mumbai. Anil made his Bollywood debut as an adult in the 1979 film “Hamare Tumhare.” In 1984, he appeared in Yash Chopra’s “Mashaal”. Anil’s style in this film, street thug clothes, and stubble on his face, was unusual at the time. The 1987 film, “Mr. India”, gave him superstar status. His career has spanned over four decades of successful films. In 2002, he became a producer; in 2008, Anil created the role of a nasty game show host in “Slumdog Millionaire”, which went on to win an Academy Award for Best Picture of 2008 (Hollywood). He then starred in the American series “24” in season eight, and more recently in “Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol” (2011) with Tom Cruise. In 2013, he starred as the hero of the Indian TV series “24”. Other movies Anil has starred in are ‘Tezaab’ (1988) and ‘Beta’ (1992), winning a Filmfare Best Actor Award for each movie, ‘’Virasat’ (1997) winning a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor, ‘Taal’ (1999) winning a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award, ‘Pukar’ (2000) earning a National Film Award for Best Actor, ’Welcome Back’ and ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ (2015). Other recent films are ‘AK vs AK’ (2020), ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ (2022), and a double role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’ (2023). Anil’s elder brother is Boney Kapoor, a film producer; his younger brother is Sanjay Kapoor, an actor. He has been married since 1984. Sonam Kapoor, a popular actress in her own right, is his eldest daughter, and Harshvardhan Kapoor, Anil’s son, is also an actor.
