Happy Birthday to Anubhav Sinha, Indian film director, born on June 22, 1965, in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.  Trained as a Mechanical Engineer, Anubhav worked as a successful director of television and music videos before directing his first feature film ‘Tum Bin’ (2000). This romance became a sleeper hit. Other films he has directed are: ‘Dus’ (2005), Tathastu’ (2006), and ‘Cash’ (2007).  Anubhav is best known for directing Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Ra.One’ (2011), a very expensive, super-hero, action film that had mixed reviews.  In 2014, he produced ‘Gulabi Gang’, starring Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla.  ‘Tum Bin II’, released in 2016, was written, directed, and co-produced by Anubhav. In 2018, he wrote, directed and produced ‘Mulk’. This film about a Muslim family whose nephew becomes involved in terrorism, was critically acclaimed for its’ relevancy.  Anubhav won a Filmfare Award for Best Story. His next film, ‘Article 15’ (2019), starred Ayushmann Khurrana as a police officer conducting a murder investigation. It tackles the subject of caste discrimination in India. The movie as critically acclaimed and won Filmfare Awards for Best Film – Critics Award, Best Story, Best Actor – Critics Award, Best Supporting Actor, Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, and Sound Design. In 2020, Anubhav wrote, produced and directed ‘Thappad’ starring Taapsee Pannu as a young wife who is abused by her husband. ‘Thappad’ won the Filmfare Award for Best Story and Best Film. Anubhav owns his own production company Benaras Media Works.
