Deepika Padukone is an Indian actress, born on January 5, 1986, in Copenhagen. Her father is a well-known badminton player, and Deepika played as a teenager but left sports to become a model. In 2007, Deepika made her Bollywood debut in ‘Om Shanti Om,’ which starred Shah Rukh Khan, and received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. In 2012, after several unsuccessful films, she was acclaimed for her performance in ‘Cocktail’. The next year, Deepika starred in three films that were blockbusters: ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘Chennai Express’, and ‘Ram-Leela” for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. In 2014, she starred in ‘Finding Fanny’ which was praised by critics, and super blockbuster ‘Happy New Year’ with Shah Rukh Khan. In 2015, Deepika starred in three well-received roles: ‘Piku’ with Amitabh Bachchan, ‘Tamasha’ with Ranbir Kapoor, and ‘Bajirao Mastani’ with Ranveer Singh. In 2017, Deepika appeared in a Hollywood film, ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’, co-starring Vin Diesel. In 2018, she was ‘Padmavati’, starring in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s controversial period drama. It became Deepika’s highest-grossing film at the time and won her a nomination for Filmfare Best Actress. Her next was ‘Chhapaak’ (2020). She portrayed real acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. In 2021, she appeared in ‘83’, as the wife of Kapil Dev. In 2022, she starred in Amazon Prime’s ‘Gehraiyaan’, a film about infidelity. She was seen in blockbusters ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’ (2023), both with SRK. She will soon be seen as an IAF aviator in ‘Fighter’, with Hrithik Roshan. Deepika started a foundation to promote awareness of depression which she has suffered from. The foundation is called The Live Love Laugh Foundation. Deepika and fellow actor Ranveer Singh were married in November 2018.
