Juhi Chawla is a Bollywood actress and film producer, born November 13, 1967, in Ambala, Haryana, India.  Juhi was the winner of the Miss India beauty pageant in 1984 and made her movie debut with the film ‘Sultanat’ (1986). Her first major role in Bollywood was starring with Aamir Khan in the popular ‘Qayamat se Qayamat Tak’ (1988). Juhi won a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award for this film. Juhi became known as the feisty girl next door, lively and funny, with great comic timing, and was a leading actress in the 1990’s. Some of Juhi’s best-known films include: ‘Pratibandh’ (1990), ‘Bol Radha Bol’ (1992),’Darr’ (1993), ‘Ishq’, ‘Yes Boss’, and ‘Deewana Mastana’ (1997). In the 2000s Juhi began making art-house films. The most successful were: ‘Jhankaar Beats’ (2003), 3 Deewarein’ (2003), ‘My Brother Nikhil’ (2005), and ‘I Am’ (2011). In 2014, she appeared opposite Madhuri Dixit Nene in the movie ‘Gulaab Gang’ and received critical praise for her first negative role. She made ‘Chalk n Duster’ in 2016, and ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ in 2019. Juhi has made several cameo appearances, including as herself in SRK’s ‘Zero’.In 2022, Juhi led an all-women cast in ‘Hush Hush’, a murder mystery web series on Amazon Prime Video. That same year, she appeared in Rishi Kapoor’s last film ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’. She was last seen as the mother of two boys in ‘Friday Night Plan’ (2023), a coming-of-age comedy-drama. During her career, Juhi often co-starred with Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Juhi and her husband, Jay Mehta, are co-owners of the Kolkata Knight Riders cricket team.
