Happy Birthday to Dimple Kapadia, a veteran Indian film actress, born on June 8, 1957. She was launched by Raj Kapoor at age 16, playing the title role in his teen romance ‘Bobby’, in 1973. Dimple won a Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her debut role. That same year, she married popular Indian actor Rajesh Khanna and retired from acting. They were still married at the time of his death in 2012, although they had separated in 1982, and no longer lived together. In 1984, Dimple returned to the movies in Ramesh Sippy’s ‘Saagar’, winning another Filmfare Award for Best Actress.  Some of her well-known films are Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Kaash’ (1987), ‘Ram Lakhan’ (1989), ‘Drishti’ (1990), ‘Lekin…’ (1990), ‘Rudaali’ (1993), winning the National Film Award for Best Actress, ‘Krantiveer’ (1994), Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ (2001), ‘Leela’ (2002), ‘Being Cyrus’ (2006), ‘Dabangg’ (2010), and ‘Finding Fanny’ 2014. Dimple and Rajesh had two daughters, Twinkle and Rinke. Twinkle, an ex-actress now known for her humorous writing, is married to Akshay Kumar.
