Happy Birthday to Kirron Kher, Indian theatre, film and tv actress, born on June 14, 1955, in Chandigarth. Kirron made her film debut in 1983 in a Punjabi film ‘Aasra Pyar Da’. In the mid-90s, she hosted three different television shows. In 1996, she returned to films in ‘Sardari Begum’ for which she won a Special Jury Award at the National Film Awards in 1997. In 2000, she won another National Film Award, this time for Best Actress, for the film ‘Beriwali’. Kirron has played many supporting roles in successful movies, such as: ‘Devdas’ (2002), ‘Khamosh Pani’ (2003), ‘Main Hoon Na’ (2004), ‘Veer-Zaara’ (2004), ‘Rang De Basanti’ (2006), and ‘Fanaa” (2006). Kirron was last seen in ‘Punjab 1984’, ‘Khoobsurat’, and ‘Total Siyapaa’, all released in 2014. That year, Kirron became politically involved running successfully as a MP representing Chandigarh in the Lok Sabha for the Bharatiya Janata Party, where she still serves today. Kirron is married to fellow actor, Anupam Kher, and they have one son Sikander.
