Mahesh Babu is a Telugu actor and producer, born on August 9, 1975, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Mahesh, the son of veteran Telugu actor Krishna, began as a child artist starting with ‘Needa’ in 1979, and appearing in eight other films as a youngster. His first movie as a hero was the 1999 romantic comedy ‘Raja Kumarudu’ (The Prince-one of his nicknames). His co-star was Preity Zinta and the film was a success winning a Nandi Award for Best Home-viewing Feature Film. One of the most popular Telugu actors, Mahesh has many successful films to his credit, such as: ‘Murari’ (2001), ‘Okkadu’ (2003), ‘Arjun’ (2004), ‘Pokiri’ (2006), ‘Dookudu’ (2011), ‘Businessman’ (2012), ‘Srimanthudu’ (2015) and ‘Spyder’ (1917). Mahesh’s last movies are among the highest-grossing films in the Telugu industry. They are “Bharat Ane Nenu’ (2018), a political thriller, ‘Maharshi’ (2019), as a businessman with a heart for the poor, ‘Sarileru Neekevaru’ (2020), as an army major who is the target of a love-obsessed girl, and ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ (2022), as a financier who falls for a politician’s daughter. He owns his own production house, G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment Pvt. Ltd which produced the successful film ‘Major’ in 2022. He is also known for his humanitarian work and has a charitable trust and a non-profit organization called Heal-a-Child. Mahesh has been married to actress Namrata Shirodkar since 2005, and they have a son and a daughter.
