Madhur Bhandarkar,  is an Indian film director, scriptwriter, and producer, born on August 26, 1968, in Mumbai. Madhur began his career as an assistant to small filmmakers, and later as an assistant to Ram Gopal Varma. In 1999, Madhur made his directorial debut with the little-known ‘Trishakti’. His second film, ‘Chandni Bar’ (2001), starring Tabu as a bargirl, won four National Awards, including the 2002 National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues. In 2005, Madhur again won a National Film Award for Best Feature Film for ‘Page 3’, starring Konkona Sen Sharma as a journalist covering the celebrity scene. In 2007, Madhur won a National Film Award for Best Director of ‘Traffic Signal’, about the lives of people who derive their income from the 2-plus minute wait at a traffic signal. Other movies he has directed are ‘Corporate’ (2006), ‘Fashion’ (2008) with Priyanka Chopra, ‘Jail’ (2009), and ‘Heroine (2012) with Kareena Kapoor. ‘Indu Sarkar’ his last film, is a political thriller that Madhur co-wrote, directed, and co-produced. His next film will be ‘Babli Bouncer’ starring Tamannaah Bhatia.
