Devi Sri Prasad (DSP)  is an Indian composer, lyricist, singer, and performer, born on August 2, 1979, in Vedurupaka, Andhra, Pradesh. His father, G. Satyamurthy, was a screenwriter of Telugu films, and his brother, Sagar, is a playback singer. Devi is one of the most prolific and successful music directors working in the Telugu film industry. He made his debut in films in 1999 at the age of 19, with the film ‘Devi’. In 2001, Devi made his breakthrough by composing the soundtrack of the Telugu film ‘Anandam’, and the Tamil film ‘Badri’. In 2005, Devi won his first award for Best Music Director-Telugu (Filmfare) for the Prabhas/Trisha movie ‘Varsham’. Other award-winning scores are: ‘Arya’ (2005), ‘Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana’ (2006), Bommarillu’ (2007), Gabbar Singh’ (2013), ‘Attarintiki Daredi’ (2014), ‘Srimanthudu’ (2016), ‘Nannaku Prematho’ (2017), and ‘Rangasthalam’ (2019). In 2012, his ‘Gabbar Singh’ album became a big hit, and it recently won the honor of ‘Album of the Decade’ at the 11th Mirchi Music Awards South. ‘Kevvu Keka’ was the most popular song on the album. Devi often re-composes and re-mixes his own songs into other languages like Tamil and Hindi. The song ‘Seeti Maar’, originally done for ‘DJ: Duvvada Jagannadham’ (2017) with Allu Arjun, was redone for Salman Khan’s 2021 film ‘Radhe’. Devi is known as the ‘king of item numbers’ and his music incorporates pop rock, hard rock, folk, and romantic melodies. DSP most recently was the music director for the hit ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ (2021).
