Rajkummar Rao (alias Rajkumar Yadav) is an Indian actor, born on August 31, 1984, in Gurgaon, Haryana, India. Rajkummar, a graduate of the University of Delhi and the Film and Television Institute of India. He made his film debut in “Love Sex Aur Dhokha” in 2010. In ‘Kai Po Che!’ (2013), Rajkummar played a nerdy young entrepreneur. The film was a surprise hit. His next was Hansal Mehta’s biopic of slain human rights activist Shahid Azmi, ‘Shahid’ (2013). He was awarded a National Film Award for Best Actor and a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for his performance. Rajkummar has received praise for his acting in these movies: ‘Queen’ (2014), ‘Aligarh’ (2016), ‘Trapped’ (2017) winning Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ (2017), winning the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor, and ‘Newton’ (2017). In 2018, Rajkummar starred in ‘Stree’, as a ladies’ tailor hunted by a beautiful ghost, co-starring Shraddha Kapoor. It was his highest-grossing film to date. He was seen in ‘Judgementall Hai Kya’, as a neighbor of a mentally ill Kangana Ranaut, as the fiancé of a lesbian in ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’, and as a Gujarati businessman in ‘Made in China’, all released in 2019. In 2020, Rajkummar made ‘Shimla Mirchi’, co-starring Rakul Preet Singh and Hema Malini, ‘Ludu’, a comedy-thriller for Netflix, and ‘Chhalaang’, a sports comedy for Amazon Prime. In 2021, he was an entrepreneur in ‘The White Tiger’, his first English movie, and ‘Roohi’, the second installment of ‘Stree’. In 2022, Rajkummar starred with Bhumi Pednekar and a gay couple who marry for their parents, and ‘HIT: the First Case’, a remake of a Telugu action thriller co-starring Sanya Malhotra.
