Ranveer Singh is a flamboyant Bollywood actor, born July 6, 1985, in Mumbai. After graduating college in the US, Ranveer made his acting debut in a Yash Raj Film ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ (2010) co-starring Anushka Sharma. The film was a hit and Ranveer won a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. His second film was less successful ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’ (2011). In his third film, Ranveer played an intense, brooding character in the period piece ‘Lootera’ (2013) co-starring Sonakshi Sinha. Critics praised his acting ability, but the film did not do well at the box office. Ranveer’s fourth film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Ram-Leela’ (2013), was a commercial success and showcased his crackling chemistry with Deepika Padukone. In 2014, he starred in ‘Gunday’ with Arjun Kapoor, a commercial success, and ‘Kill Dil’, which was unsuccessful. In 2015, Ranveer starred in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, as the son of a dysfunctional family, winning appreciation for his role. In December 2015, Ranveer had his most successful movie to date ‘Bajirao Mastani’, co-starring Deepika and Priyanka Chopra. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in the role of Peshwa Bajirao. In 2018, he starred in Bhansali’s controversial ‘Padmavati’. He won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Alauddin Khilji, a barbaric Muslim king. Ranveer’s next was Rohit Shetty’s remake of the Telugu film ‘Temper’, renamed ‘Simmba’. The film grossed 400 crores worldwide. He was last seen in the successful ‘Gully Boy’ (2019), as an emerging rap artist from the slum of Mumbai. Ranveer won another Filmfare Award for Best Actor for this film. Ranveer then had three unsuccessful movies: ‘83’ (2021) as former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev, as the timid husband of a traditional Gujarati father in the comedy-drama ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ (2022), in a double role in ‘Cirkus’ (2022). His next will be Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, co-starring Alia Bhatt. In 2021 and 2022, he hosted a television game show ‘The Big Picture’. Ranveer, who is known for his trendy fashion sense, has many brand endorsements. Ranveer married Deepika Padukone in 2018.

Ever since I was a little girl, I loved a good story. As an American, most of the movies I have watched were made in Hollywood. As I got older I lost interest in Hollywood movies and started watching Bollywood movies. Now I enjoy Tollywood, Kollywood, and Mollywood films as well.
