Salman Khan, a popular Bollywood actor, was born on December 27, 1965, to iconic screenwriter Salim Khan (Muslim) and Sushila Charak (Hindu). He is one of the three Khans that have ruled the Bollywood box office since the early 1990s. After a small part in the 1988 film “Biwi Ho To Aisi”, Salman jumped to stardom in “Maine Pyar Kiya” (1989), winning the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He has had several highs and lows in his career which spans 28 years. Since the release of “Dabangg” in 2010, his films have set box office records. They include: “Ready” (2011), “Bobyguard” (2011), “Ek Tha Tiger” (2012), “Dabangg 2” (2012), “Kick” (2014). In 2015, Salman had two blockbusters, “Bajrangi Bhajaan” (the second highest grosser to date in India) and “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”. In 2016, he starred in ‘Sultan’, a sports drama co-starring Anushka Sharma, the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of all time at the time. In 2017, Salman starred in ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, which became the eighth-highest-grossing Indian film at the time. In 2019, Salman appeared in ‘Bharat’ and ‘Dabangg 3’, both films were successful. He is the only actor who has nine consecutive 100-crore-plus films in a row. As a producer, Salman has won two National Film Awards for ‘Chillar Party’ Best Children’s Film, and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Salman was seen in ‘Radhe’ (2021) which he also produced, and ‘Antim’ (2021). More recently, he has made several cameo appearances in ‘Godfather’ (2022/Telugu). ‘Ved’ (2022/Marathi), and ‘Pathaan’ (Hindi/2023). His last film was the successful ‘Tiger 3’, with Katrina Kaif, part of the YRF Spy Universe. Although he has had several controversies in the past, Salman is also known for his philanthropy, most notably, Being Human, his own NGO, and hosting “Big Boss”, a popular television show, and for the fact that he has never married.
