Sonu Sood, is an Indian actor, producer, model, and humanitarian, born on July 30, 1973, in Moga, Punjab, India.  Sonu was a contestant in the Mr. India pageant and has done commercials for leading brands. His acting career started with the Tamil film ‘Majunu’ which was released in 2001 and Telugu films.  His first Bollywood films were ‘Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh’ (2002) and ‘Yuva’ (2004) where he played Abhishek Bachchan’s brother.  In 2005, he starred in the biggest Telugu film of the year, ‘Arundhati’. Some of his better-known roles in Bollywood films are: ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ (2008), ‘Singh Is Kinng’ (2008), Salman Khan’s villain in super hit ‘Dabangg’ (2010), Shahid Kapoor’s rival in ‘R…Rajkumar’ (2013), and Farah Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’ (2014).  Sonu has established a production house named after his late father, Shakti Sagar Productions. The first production was ‘Tutak Tutak Tutiya’, a comedy thriller, starring Sonu, Tamannaah Bhatia and Prabhudeva, released in September 2016. He starred with Jackie Chan in an action-adventure comedy ‘Kung Fu Yoga’(2017), ‘Paltan’, a military drama, Rohit Shetty’s ‘Simmba’(2018), and ‘Devi 2’ (Tamil) and ‘Sita’ (Telugu)  in 2019. Sonu was most recently seen in ‘Acharya’ with Chiranjeevi and ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ with Akshay Kumar in 2022. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Sonu became a real-life hero helping migrant workers return to their homes and other good works. He wrote a book about his experiences called ‘I Am No Messiah’.
