Sushant Singh Rajput, an Indian television and film actor, born on January 21, 1986, in Patna, Bihar. Sushant placed seventh in the All India Engineering Entrance Exams. He passed up a scholarship to Stanford University in the United States to make his mark in Bollywood. While in college, Sushant took dance classes with Shiamak Davar and acting classes with Barry John. In 2008, Sushant was cast in the Indian soap opera ‘Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil’, as the hero’s younger brother. In 2009, he starred as Manav in the soap ‘Pavitra Rishta’, becoming a household name. From there he appeared in two dance-based reality shows. Sushant next auditioned for the film ‘Kai Po Che!’, which released on February 22, 2013. Sushant received rave reviews for his character and ‘Kai Po Che!’ was a surprise success. After ‘Kai Po Che’, Sushant became the male lead in Yash Raj Film’s ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ (2013) with Parineeti Chopra, ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshi’ (2015), and Neeraj Pandey’s sports bio “M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’ (2016). Sushant had a small part in Aamir Khan’s blockbuster ‘PK’ in 2014. He has had one unsuccessful film in ‘Raabta’ (2017), co-starring with Kriti Sanon, a reincarnation drama. He was seen in ‘Kedarnath’ (2018), a romantic disaster drama, co-starring with Sara Ali Khan in her film debut. He started 2019 off with Sonchiriya’, a drama about bandits in Madhya Pradesh in 1975. His next was ‘Chhichhore’, co-starring Shraadha Kapoor in a drama about the pressure to succeed in college. He finished 2019 with ‘Drive’, an action/comedy co-starring Jacqueline Fernandez made for release on Netflix. Sushant’s final film was ‘Dil Bechara’ which released after his death on Disney +. On June 14, 2020, Sushant was found hanging in his home in an apparent suicide. He was suffering from bipolar disorder and had apparently been in a deep depression. Sushant was only 34.
