Vikramaditya Motwane, Indian screenwriter, director, and producer, was born on December 6, 1976, in Mumbai. Vikramaditya worked as an assistant director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali on ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ (1999) and ‘Devdas’ (2002). He was the screenwriter for ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal’ (2007). ‘Dev D’ (2009), ‘Udaan’ (2010), and ‘Lootera’ (2013). Vikramaditya’s directorial debut ‘Udaan’ won several Filmfare Awards including Best Film-Critics, Best Story, and Best Screenplay. The second film he directed was ‘Lootera’ (2013), a period romance, starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. It received critical acclaim but was unsuccessful at the box office. Vikramaditya also became a producer with ‘Lootera’ along with ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ (2014), ‘Queen’ (2014), ‘NH10’ (2015), ‘Bombay Velvet’ (2015), ‘Masaan’ (2015), ‘Udta Punjab’ (2016), ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’ (2016), ‘Trapped’ (2017), ‘Mukkabaaz’ (2018), and ‘Manmarziyaan’ (2018). Vikramaditya directed the critically acclaimed ‘Trapped’ (2016), a survival drama set in an apartment building starring Rajkummar Rao. In 2018, he and Anurag Kashyap created the first Indian series for Netflix, ‘Sacred Games’. In 2020, Vikramaditya did a black comedy, ‘AK vs AK’, which he wrote, directed, and produced for Netflix. In 2023, he created and directed ‘Jubilee’, about the early days in the Hindi film industry, for Amazon Prime. Vikramaditya won the 2023 Filmfare OTT Award for Best Director Drama Series.
