Bhumika (Rachna) Chawla is an Indian actress working mostly in the Telugu film industry, born on August 21, 1978, in New Delhi, India. Bhumika’s father was an Army officer. She started her career doing ads and music videos. Bhumika also appeared in ‘Hip Hip Hurray’, a teenage drama series for Zee TV. Her first Telugu film was ‘Yuvakudu’ (2000), a successful college romance co-starring Sumanth. Then she made her Tamil debut in ‘Badri’ (2001), co-starring with Vijay in a sports drama featuring kickboxing. Bhumika’s second Telugu film with Pawan Kalyan, ‘Kushi’ (2001), a romantic comedy, was a blockbuster. She won a Filmfare Award for Best Actress–Telugu for the film. Other successful films are: ‘Okkadu’ with Mahesh Babu, and ‘Missamma’ (2003), ‘Tere Naam’ (Hindi/2004) with Salman Khan, ‘Sillunu Our Kaadhal’ (Tamil/2006), ‘Satyabhama’ (Telugu/2007), ‘Anasuya’ (Telugu/2008), ‘Middle Class Abbayi’ (Telugu/2017), and ‘Seetimaarr’ (Telugu/2021). Bhumika was last seen in a supporting role in ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ (Hindi/2023), an action comedy starring Salman Khan. Bhumika is married to Bharat Thakur, a yoga teacher, and they have a son.
