Chiranjeevi (Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad), is an iconic Indian actor, tv host, and politician, born on August 22, 1955, in Mogalthur, Andhra Pradesh, India. Among his family members, there are several filmmakers: his son actor Ram Charan, brothers Nagendra Babu and Pawan Kalyan, brother-in-law film producer Allu Aravind, and nephews Allu Arjun and Varun Tej. Chiranjeevi has starred in over 150 films, working primarily in the Telugu film industry. He made his acting debut in 1978 with ‘Punadhirallu’ and ‘Pranam Khareedu’. In the next few years, Chiranjeevi played the anti-hero films, appearing in lead roles around 1982 with ‘Intlo Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnayya’. He won his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu in ‘Subhalekha’, about the dowry system. Chiranjeevi became a star with the box office success of ‘Khaidi’. Several successful films lead to his second Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu for ‘Vijetha’ (1985). Other award-winning films are ‘Aapadbandhavudu’ (1992), ‘Mutha Mestri’, ‘Sneham Kosam’, ‘Indra’ (2002), and ‘Shankar Dada MBBS’. In 2011, Chiranjeevi was awarded the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award – South for his contributions to the industry. He took a break from films and entered politics starting his own party in 2008. In 2017, he returned to full-time filmmaking with ‘Khaidi No. 150’, and in 2019, Chiranjeevi starred in his first period film ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’. In 2022, he starred as a Naxalite leader in ‘Acharya’, an action drama, alongside his son, Ram. He is the founder of Chiranjeevi Blood and Eye Banks and was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Indian government in 2006.
