Happy Birthday to Naseeruddin Shah, Indian film and stage actor and director, born on July 20, 1949, in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. Naseeruddin is married to actress Ratna Pathak and his two sons are actors, Vivaan and Imaad Shah.  He is well known in parallel cinema and in Bollywood, winning a Padma Shri and a Padma Bhushan award from the Indian government for his contribution to the arts. Naseeruddin began his career in ‘Nishant’ in 1975. Some of his best-known films are:  ‘Sparsh’ (1979) and ‘Paar’ (1984), for both he won the National Film Award for Best Actor, and ‘Iqbal’ (2006) for which he won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor.  Other acclaimed performances are: ‘Aakrosh’ (1981), ‘Chakra’ (1982), ‘Masoom’ (1984), ‘Sarfarosh’ (2000), ‘Monsoon Wedding’ (2001), ‘Omkara’ (2006), ‘Raajneeti’ (2010), ‘The Dirty Picture’ (2011), ‘Finding Fanny’ (2014), ‘Waiting’ (2015), and ‘OK Jaanu’ (2017). My personal favorite Naseeruddin film is ‘A Wednesday!’ (2008), a thriller, where he plays a disturbed ‘common man’. In 2014, he wrote an autobiography, ‘And Then One Day: A Memoir’. Naseeruddin was last seen in ‘The Tashkent Files’ (2019), a conspiracy theory film about the death of a former Indian prime minister, and the successful ensemble family drama Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi’.
