Raveena Tandon is an Indian model, actress, and producer, born on October 26, 1974, in Mumbai. Her father, Ravi Tandon, was a well-known filmmaker. When Raveena was offered a part in a film, she dropped out of college. Her debut film was opposite Salman Khan in the hit ‘Patthar Ke Phool’ in 1991. Raveena won a Filmfare Award for Lux New Face of the Year for her first role. Other popular films she made in the 90s were: ‘Mohra’, ‘Dilwale’, ‘Laadla’ and ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ (1994), a classic comedy, with Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, ‘Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi’ (1996), ‘Ziddi’ (1997), and ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ with Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda. Raveena had success in 2001 with ‘Daman’, playing the role of a domestic abuse victim and winning a National Film Award for Best Actress. She also won a Filmfare Special Performance Award for ‘Aks’ (2001), a supernatural thriller. When she married film distributor, Anil Thadani in 2003, Raveena started doing movies only occasionally. She did a television series ‘Sahib Biwi Gulam’ and hosted a talk show ‘Issi Ka Naam Zindagi’. Raveena made a brief comeback in Bombay Velvet (2015), a period crime drama as a sultry jazz singer, and in ‘Maatr’ (2017), as a teacher seeking revenge when her daughter dies after being raped. In 2021, Raveena made her OTT debut as a police officer in the crime thriller ‘Aranyak’ for Netflix, winning the 2022 Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actress. Raveena was the Prime Minister of India in the Kannada blockbuster ‘K.G.F.: Chapter 2’ (2022), the third highest-grossing Indian film of all time. In 2023, she was honored with the Padma Shri for her contribution to the arts from the government of India.
