Happy Birthday to Suraj Venjaramoodu, a Malayalam actor, comedian, television host, born on June 30, 1976, in Venjaramoodu, Trivandrum, Kerala. As a young adult, Suraj was good at mimicry, and he broke into television on a comedy show called ‘Jagapoka’. He made his debut in a 2002 slapstick comedy ‘Jagapoga’. Since then, Suraj has appeared in over 250 films. Throughout the 2000s, he played comedic roles and won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Comedian for ‘Ivar Vivahitharayal (2009), ‘Oru Naal Varum’ (2010), and ‘Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus’ (2013). He then took on the character and leading roles. In 2014, Suraj was awarded the National Film Award for Best Actor for ‘Perariyathavar’, for presenting the life of a marginalized municipal sweeper with dignity. In 2019, he was presented the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for ‘Android Kunjappan Version 5.25’, as a senior who is given a robot for companionship, and, for ‘Vikruthi’, as a hearing/speech-impaired man who is the victim of a social media prank. In 2021, Suraj appeared as the clueless newly married, and very traditional husband in ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’. Suraj has been married since 2005. He and his wife Supriya have three children.
